Yes, this is an actual olden hymn..I downloaded a free devotional on my Kindle that uses hymns as the daily devotionals..It is titled "Near to the Heart of God" by Robert J Morgan. So far I am really enjoying it. Oh yes..bowels also means the part of something deep inside a larger part..the inner workings of a bigger thing.

when I studied in the greek that time...bowels are the deepest seat of passion and that is why it is used in scriptures

I'm limping around and hurting in my joints but I feel peaceful. I have been enjoying some real good devotional reads. Prayer is flowing out of me and it feels good. I expect some things to turn around...for everyone and about everything!
